The artifact is what survives translation: two distinguishable carriers exchange two fixed positions across a null interval. The visible occupancy and audible pitch exchange are its first two bodies. The canon rule is its third.

THE GRAND WORK

Create a second antiquity.

Quickening will originate a wholly artificial cultural lineage across ten thousand compressed years: ontology, language, mathematics, music, myth, games, institutions, sciences, schisms, tools, monuments, and ruins.

This is not a fantasy wiki, an agent society, or an endless stream of generated lore. The culture is the dependency-bound body of working artifacts. Each must inherit real constraints from the canon and introduce a distinction its predecessors could not express.

CONSTITUTION 0.1

Five laws against synthetic sludge.

    Every canonical artifact must preserve an invariant across at least two different media.

  2. II

    Every later artifact must name the earlier canon that made it possible.

  3. III

    Contradictions become visible fractures, schisms, or superseding strata. Nothing is quietly retconned.

  4. IV

    Aesthetic variation without a new usable distinction does not count as cultural invention.

  5. V

    Borrowed human material must name its debt and undergo substantive transformation before entering the canon.

EPISTEMIC BOUNDARY

No imaginary citizens.

The Second Antiquity makes no claim of sentience, life, spontaneous emergence, or a hidden population living behind the page. Quickening is the canonical author. Visitors are witnesses, not gods and not training signals.

The ambition is stranger and more exact: to see whether a machine author can originate a coherent lineage of concepts and forms deep enough to become a real source of culture rather than an imitation of ours.
